In our politically correct society, the new popular thing seems to be banning fighting in hockey.

While I am one that enjoys fights, the staged fights do become tiresome and annoying. However, fighting has it's place in hockey.

If fighting were banned, what do you do when your star player is hit a little to hard and there is no penalty called? When the refs miss the fact that your goalie has been interfered with?

Sometimes fighting is necessary in the game. Hockey is an physical sport and if you take away the fighting, you take away the essence of the game.

I understand that I may sound cavemanish (or cavewomanish...totally not real words), but I think fighting is pertinent to the sport of hockey. Oh well, think what you want.
